Kerry Óg-Ógras members had a fantastic day exploring Ballyseedy Wood and learning about its history on Saturday. They learned about the flora, fauna, and wildlife in the wood and also about the history of Ballyseedy Wood since its creation by Edward Denny following his defeat of the 'Rebel Earl' in 1583.
They visited the old Ballyseedy Castle, the site of the old Water Mill, and the folly, a structure built for ornamental purposes only. They also saw the Old Coach Road, which was the medieval 'motorway' that linked Tralee and Castleisland. Back at base, each member was given a little treat to complete an enjoyable day in brilliant sunshine.
