New Climate Justice film from Ógras:

Ógras: an Domhan – the Video!

With the support of the Climate Justice Fund Earth Day – 22 April 2022

Young Global Voices about the Climate Crisis! The youth organisation Ógras launched their climate justice video on Earth Day. It shows the result of climate change on young people around the world. These young people tell their stories about how climate change impacts their lives and their rights.

“Climate Justice is very important to young people”, said Dublin’s Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland, supporting the short climate justice film. “We only have one planet and all of us, young and old, in Ireland and around the world, have to work together to protect its future, our collective future.”

The video shows the terrible results of climate change on young people from Africa to Australia. The rights of young people abroad are being trampled on but young people in Ireland can provide help and support in solidarity.

Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22. Earth Day events around the world help people understand how they can help the planet. It is thought that about 1 billion people do something on Earth Day to help the environment.

Ógras is already, with the help of the Climate Justice Fund from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, doing a lot of fun and interesting work around climate justice. From TikTok videos about fast fashion to ecobricks to debating competitions, the youth organisation provides plenty of educational activities with a fun twist.

But there is more to come from Ógras. “We are currently putting a comprehensive Green Policy together which will weave threads on preserving our climate, preserving our nature and of course preserving our culture and heritage”, said Maedhbh Ní Dhónaill, Ógras Director launching the climate justice video. “All in a global context, but with local action. And next month we will launch our postcard campaign which will seek positive action from the Irish government.”
