Online Camp 2021

After a weird (and enjoyable and fun) year online, Ógras is thrilled that we are in a position to organise our famous Summer Camps physically again!

But because last year's online camps were so successful - and because of all the queries we got from parents who wanted to register again - we are holding another online camp in 2021. After all, who are we to deny their wishes?!

Ógras understands that we need to provide flexible & versatile youth work services and last year demonstrated the excellence of our Online Camps, so we will hold another in 2021! Ye are so spoilt;)

We'll be getting up to lots of activities at the camps - The "classics" such as Conversation Circles, Sports etc., and in addition new events & renewed activities such as Workshops, Dancing, Treasure Hunts.... and so much more!

Ógras Summer Camps are rightfully famous for fun, and we simply can't wait to see you all in person again. There is lots more information about the Camps below and you can Register directly here:

Ógras understands that we need to provide versatile youth work services, therefore
our 2021 Camps will be BOTH outdoors and online!!

Camp Details

Camps this year are at a reduced rate of €25 per young person, and every camp runs for 1.5 hours daily, from Monday to Friday 9-14 August,  10am to 11.30am (excluding week 4 - see note below). The age group for camps this year is 7-12 years.

We will be aiming up to 15 young people in each camp session (we will organise another camp if the demand is there). This limit is to facilitate the opportunity for the young people to learn and have fun, and of course to ensure things are manageable for the camp teachers, facilitators and leaders with a focus on quality over quantity.

All our camp teachers & leaders are qualified and Garda vetted as well as being very experienced in youth work as Ghaeilge.

Vision and Objectives:

Vision:

To give children and young people a fun experience that will foster a positive attitude towards learning the Irish language by providing an online service with a qualified team, who have experience in youth work and in teaching Irish.

Objectives:

  • Provide a safe space to young people to practice Irish language activities during the Summer

  • To give young people the opportunity to learn and practice the Irish language, and to develop their confidence in their spoken Irish

  • Provide experience in a wide range of fun and encouraging activities, through Irish

  • To provide young people with an opportunity to have fun and craic with
    other young people

Some examples of activities we will be doing at the camps this year are:

  • Irish language 'Ciorcal Comhrá' (Conversation Circle)

  • Dancing/Exercise/Yoga

  • Practical Workshops

  • Bingo

  • Arts & Crafts

  • Games

  • ... and lots more!

Ógras is now using a new Registration system using  Easypayments Plus in 2021 to simplify payments for all involved. If you already have an Easypayments Plus account, you will be able to use it here and simply add the extra details that are required and for the relevant camps. If you do not already use Easypayments, you can register for an account quickly, easily and free of charge - and perhaps more importantly, you will save time here from now on!! The EPP system is straightforward enough, but it is new to us as well, so don't be afraid to contact us if you have any issues.

Please click here for all the nitty gritty details on our camps including more information about Covid19, objectives, activities, what to bring, Camp ethos, and to answer any other questions you may have!

Our Summer Camps always go very well and the young people who attend enjoy themselves immensely, so we are delighted that that we don't have to disappoint our regulars and new members looking for fun activities through Irish, despite the state of things being as strange as they are at the moment. The camps present young people with the opportunity to use the Irish they have in a playful and enjoyable environment, picking up new words and phrases as they go as a result. The camps build the young people’s self-confidence and use of the language - they gain personal, social and creative skills, relationship building skills, and a general understanding of society and community through fun, active participation within a safe environment.

We are proud to always receive excellent feedback from the young people who attend our camps - and their parents! - year after year.

We are of course here to answer any questions you might have too, so if you need any extra info you may email us here and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We are very grateful to Foras na Gaeilge and to the Dept. of Children and Youth Affairs for supporting the camps through funding.

Tá muid an-bhuíoch d'Fhoras na Gaeilge agus don Roinn Leanaí agus Gnóthaí Óige as ucht maoiniú a chur ar fáil do na campaí.
