Reopening of Ógras Clubs

Ógras Clubs returning to the Real World!

As a result of the pandemic, Ireland’s longest established Irish language youth

organisation, Ógras, decided to take their clubs online during 2020 and 2021. In

2022, the clubs are returning to their physical environments.


Maedhbh Ní Dhónaill, Ógras National Director, said, “Ógras provides a varied programme of activities to young people throughout the country: including team-building activities, games, workshops, musical and artistic activities, community and social projects, sports, trips and much more.

In addition, older members get opportunities to participate in international exchanges, training courses and much more. For example, a major emphasis is being placed on climate justice at the moment. Ógras activities support the development of skills and self-confidence in young people.”

Ógras organised a series of camps and outdoor trips in 2021 with limited numbers and with an emphasis on the safety of all in accordance with Government, HSE and Ógras Covid-19 guidelines.


Ógras are continuing to expand their clubs across the country to enable young people to enjoy a wide varieties of activities through the medium of Irish. Ógras provides services at two levels, for those aged 7 to 12 and those aged 13 to 19.
