Ógras lost another great friend at the start of 2025 - as the President of Ireland stated:"A man of immense dedication and a major figure of the Irish language movement, Pádraig Ó Snodaigh’s life was marked by such a strong and lifelong commitment to the promotion and preservation of our native language, for its use, its literature, and above all its place in the daily life of our people".
Through his publishing company, Coiscéim, Pádraig published almost 1,500 books.
He served as Uachtarán Chonradh na Gaeilge in the 1970s (as was Gearóid Ó Cairealláin in the 1980s).
Pádraig was born in Carlow and was married to the sculptor Clíodhna Cussen. He is survived their by 6 sons – the TD Aonghus; Colm; Rónán and Rossa who are in the band Kíla along with Fergus and Cormac.
Mar a dhéaradh Pádraig - Snod be with You.
